Learn How To Choose The Perfect Gift To Give At A Baby Shower

When you find out that a friend is pregnant, you will more than likely be quite excited for them. Once your friend gets closer to the birth of her baby, she will more than likely have a baby shower, one of the big events, for some. A baby shower allows you to share in the joy of her future baby, but it often creates quite a dilemma for someone that does not have kids of their own. If you do not have any children, finding the right gift to get for her can be quite difficult. Use the following guide to learn how to choose a great baby shower gift for someone that did not take the time to make a gift registry.

Consider the Size

If you want to buy clothes for the baby, you need to be sure to buy clothes that are ideal for a child that is six months or older. Many people at the shower will get clothes that are sized for babies that are three months old and younger. That means that as soon as the baby grows even a little bit, the mother will have to go shopping for new clothes because the baby has grown out of all of the clothes that were given at the shower.

Consider the Sex

When buying things for the baby, be sure to buy items that are gender specific, if you know the gender of the baby. Blue items for boys and pink or purple items for girls are the traditional options people choose. If the mother has not revealed the gender yet, you need to choose options that are gender neutral in color so that the mother can use the items on a boy or girl. Mint green and yellow are the most commonly chosen gender neutral options people choose.

Consider the Use

You need to buy things that will be useful to the mother, rather than things that are just cute. Picture frames and decorative knick knacks will not be as beneficial to the parent as diapers, clothing, and bottles will be. If you do not have any idea what the person needs or wants, burp clothes, receiving blankets, and white baby shirts are always useful items to give at a baby shower.

It is important to get a gift receipt with any present that you buy for your friend. If the expectant mother gets duplicate gifts or the gift you gave does not match her specific taste, a gift receipt will allow her to take it back to the store and exchange it for something that will be of use to her.
